An original design depicting our native Ladys Sliper Orchid in an Arts and Crafts Style. This native Orchid is currently endangered. 5% of sales are donated to Plantlife who support the conservation and protection of our native wild flowers.
 
I have chose to make this piece using the traditional method used to make Korean Moon Jars, where 2 pieces are made , trimmed on the potters wheel to make a foot and rim and then joined together. A unique feature of Korean Moon jars is that the foot of the piece is always smaller than the rim.
 
This is then finished to provide a smooth surface. The decoration was designed then handpainted onto the form and finally, decorated using underglazes.

This is made from earthenware clay and therefore is a display rather than a functional item. It is suited to indoor use only and very likely to crack if kept outdoors. 
 
Clean using warm soapy water, it is not suitable for the dishwasher or microwave.
